Mission
At the heart of our identity is our mission as an
independent Jewish high school - independent in our
thinking, our focus on intellectual inquiry, our
nurturing of the unique talents of each of our students.
Our dynamic community transcends denominational
affiliations and inspires its members with love of
Torah, dedication to excellence and commitment to
wholeness of mind, body and spirit. Our students
graduate prepared for life-long learning and eager to
fulfill their responsibilities as Americans and as
covenanted members of the Jewish people.
Students
We
affirm the diverse beliefs and practices of the modern
Jewish community. At Cardin, differences are not
barriers, but opportunities for understanding and
growth.
Each student at our School is valued for the unique
perspectives and contributions only he or she can
offer, and we value what our students bring both
to the classroom and to the School community at large.
Through small class sizes, personal mentoring, and
the impassioned instruction of experienced teachers,
students are supported and challenged. They learn
not only the content of our rigorous curriculum,
but also their own strengths and abilities. Nurtured
as individuals and supported by our School, students
learn to appreciate both the distinctiveness of each
other’s voices and the community created by
those voices joining together in study, in prayer,
and in play.
Community
We recognize and respect our essential connections
to the larger communities of our families, our synagogues,
our neighborhoods, our cities, our state, our country,
Israel, and the world. We are strengthened by and
strengthen each of these communities as we prepare
our students to seek and to accept communal responsibilities.
Our School is one of many partners in the development
and growth of our students, and we work collaboratively
with parents and the communities that support our
students.
Cardin students reach beyond our campus, organizing “Crisis in Darfur:
A Baltimore Perspective” to raise awareness and encourage social
action, working with inner-city teens through the Black/Jewish Forum of
Baltimore and participating in the network of Jewish day schools nationwide. |
