A Message from the Dean of Judaic Studies

“How Lovely Are Your Tents, O Cardin!”

We at The Shoshana S. Cardin School are like pioneers, establishing a new kind of Jewish environment in Baltimore. We have created an academically rigorous Jewish high school where the curriculum and activities reflect the values, hopes, and needs of a truly pluralistic Jewish community.

The three foundational structures of any Jewish community are the beit midrash (the house of study), the beit tephilah (the house of prayer), and the beit knesset (the house of gathering).

  • In our house of study, students and teachers gather in an atmosphere of mutual respect for a free exchange of ideas.
  • In our house of worship, we come together in prayer and contemplation, to feel part of a community.
  • In our house of gathering, we celebrate life cycle events, holidays, and accomplishments, and we practice deeds of loving kindness.

We share the excitement of building something new and important. Our community is close-knit, collaborative, respectful, and supportive. Our energy is boundless, our spirit brave and innovative.
