The most fundamental skill in all formal education is that of having a genuine command over the lingua franca—the commonly-used language that one speaks. Moreover, it is critical to understand that language’s great works of literature that both inform and challenge.
The study of English Language Arts at Cardin reflects this mandate: Emphasis is placed on both the acquisition of linguistic skills (grammar, vocabulary, and oral and written fluency and clarity), and on the appreciation of literary culture. To the greatest extent possible, the latter reflects the students’ study of history in general and Jewish thought, culture, and experience.
