Jewish life is a constant at The Shoshana S. Cardin School. It begins every Monday morning at 8:00am when our students arrive and continues through Friday at 2:30pm when our Dean of Students and Athletic Director, Foye Minton, wishes all the students a “Shabbat Shalom” as they leave for their homes.
Our classrooms are stimulating forums where Hebraic, Judaic, and General studies compliment and challenge each other. As a pluralistic school, we also teach respect for individual choices of Jewish practice that are based on learning. Studying Jewish texts, participating in numerous minyanim, and performing deeds of loving kindness enable our students to be more knowledgeable, committed and contributing Jews. Jewish behavior and values guide our interactions and decisions, and are evident in the way we treat each other. As well, holiday celebrations contribute our school's joyful sense of community.
Jewish Life also extends beyond the walls of our school, to shabbatonim, field trips, shiva minyanim attended by our students, activities for teens at The Children's Home, sports games, and community gatherings. We emphasize the aspect of Jewish community, that we are connected with one another, with Israel, with Baltimore, and the wider world.
