At the culmination of four years of Judaic study, Cardin seniors participate in an annual three-week Israel experience during the month of May. The trip is offered by the Ramah Israel Institute, which is dedicated to providing an Israel experience that is enjoyable, secure, and educational.
The Shoshana S. Cardin School Senior Israel Experience provides students with a unique insight in understanding Israel’s past, present, and future, juxtaposed with the students’ own self-definition as Jews. Ramah provides a pluralistic understanding of Judaism and Israel, while caring for the spiritual and religious needs of the group and its individual members during the extent of the experience. In short, one of Ramah’s goals is to engage the students in understanding their Jewishness even as they explore what Israel is about and what it means to them.
In additional to visiting religious, historical, political and cultural landmarks throughout Israel, students participate in mifgashim (partnerships) with Israeli teens from Ashkelon, perform gemilut chasadim projects, participate in recreational activities, and celebrate traditional Shabbatot.
