Board of Trustees

At the heart of The Shoshana S. Cardin School are the dedicated lay leaders who serve on our Board of Trustees. These esteemed men and women of the Baltimore community give voluntarily of their time and talents to help guide the overall direction of our school. Their steadfast leadership and financial support enable the Cardin School to continue to grow and thrive.

The Board of Trustees is led by Dr. Arlene Bearman, who was elected as Chair of the Board at the Cardin School Annual Meeting in May 2009. Dr. Bearman holds a Ph.D. in economics and ran the administrative sciences program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County for almost 25 years while also teaching. She holds the title of retired Emeritus Director of Administrative Sciences at UMBC. Dr. Bearman is a trustee of The Herbert Bearman Foundation, a member of the Baltimore Women's Giving Circle and the Jewish Women's Foundation of Baltimore, part of The Associated Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. Additionally, Dr. Bearman has served on the boards of TurnAround Inc., an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and abuse, the Landsdown Magnet School, and Beth El Congregation. She is married to Sheldon Bearman, M.D. Dr. Bearman succeeds Howard Janet, who continues on the Board.
