About Cardin

Celebrating Identity, Pursuing Knowledge

As Baltimore’s first and only independent Jewish high school, The Shoshana S. Cardin School possesses both a unique identity and mission.  By honoring the rich diversity of the Jewish community, we affirm our commitment to pluralism and the value of all Jewish practices and traditions. And, with our focus on independence in academic inquiry, we create a rigorous but nurturing environment that promotes the individual talents of every student.

Integrated Studies

Through our school’s robust college-preparatory curriculum, students are challenged to think analytically and critically in addressing real issues in the world around them.  As well, the perspective of Jewish concepts and thought is integrated into every academic subject.  Through this balance, our students are better prepared to become the Jewish leaders of tomorrow.

Learning Opportunities

Our school is open and welcoming to students from a range of educational backgrounds, including public, independent nondenominational day schools, and Jewish day schools. Our teacher-to-student ratio of 1:4 ensures that each student can develop meaningful relationships with faculty, creating significant opportunities for learning with master teachers.  Regardless of background, students and faculty work as one to support and advance our vibrant community of Jewish learners.

A New Paradigm

Already, our mission is producing exceptional results.  At the spring 2007 commencement ceremony of our first graduating class, all of us at the Cardin School celebrated the acceptance of our graduates into major universities and colleges. These successes underscore the fact that The Shoshana S. Cardin School is creating a new paradigm for our future, by bringing a diverse student body—Reform, Conservative, Orthodox and unaffiliated—in shared scholarship and faith.
